WENDY PASKIN-JORDAN

co-CEO

Ms. Paskin-Jordan is a graduate of Stanford University, holds a JD from University of California, and an MBA from Wharton School of Business.  She is a registered NASD Series 7, 63, and 65, and a current member of the California State & Federal Bars.   

Ms. Paskin-Jordan began her career as Legal Counsel to Bechtel Corporation in 1981.  In 1986, she was hired by Bob Joss, Vice Chairman of Wells Fargo, to launch the mutual fund division.  In 1994, Ms. Paskin-Jordan served as Managing Director & Partner of Montgomery Asset Management, launching the Institutional Wealth Management Division and the Active Sports Management venture.

Ms. Paskin-Jordan served on the Board of Barclays Global Investors until it was acquired by Blackrock.  In 2010, Ms. Paskin-Jordan served 9 years as Commissioner of the $30 billion San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System (SFERS). As of 12/31/2020, SFERS ranked in the first decile for the 3-yr, 5-yr and 10-yr time periods, among public pension peers (public funds with assets >$1billion). She was also recognized as one of the top 100 businesswomen in Northern California through a survey of top CEOs and women-owned Bay Area businesses conducted by the San Francisco Business Times in 2005. Currently, Ms. Paskin-Jordan serves as a Board Member of CSAA Insurance, AAA Club Partners, CSAA Insurance Exchange and National AAA .  She is also an Advisory Board Member for PIMCO and Harvest Advisory Board.

As a world ranked swimmer, Ms. Paskin-Jordan became the most decorated U.S. athlete in the 1973 Maccabiah World Games, and received the "Quaker Oats Co-Olympian of the Future Award" with Mark Spitz.  In 1974, she broke the barrier in LA County to become the first Woman Beach Lifeguard (a division of the LA County Fire Department) and received a supervisor commendation saving 30 lives in one summer.

MATTHEW K. BERLER

Mr. Berler is a graduate of Cornell University (A.B. in History) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A.).

Mr. Berler brings over 30 years of investment experience to Paskin & Berler Capital Advisors, highlighted by 15 years on Wall Street in the institutional equity research divisions of DLJ and Morgan Stanley.  He was elected Managing Director at Morgan Stanley in 1998 and was named an Institutional Investor All Star Analyst every year from 1992-2002. Mr. Berler earned his Institutional Investor All Star Analyst title consistently for 10 years among his Institutional Investor of Financial Analyst peers, ranked by his superior fundamental research and stock picking skills. In early 2003, Mr. Berler joined Osterweis Capital Management, a leading San Francisco investment management firm with over $10 billion in firm assets. He was named President and CEO in 2011.

Since leaving Osterweis, Mr. Berler has assumed various leadership roles in the non-profit and endowment/foundation communities. He currently serves as Board Chair of Save the Redwoods League, a leading land conservation group in San Francisco. He also Chairs the investment committee ($2 billion) at the Jewish Community Federation and helps oversee $1.3 billion for the Jim Joseph Foundation.

Foundational elements that have distinguished Mr. Berler’s career and life are personal integrity, intellectual leadership, client focus and investment acumen. Helping others to define and achieve their life ambitions and goals is deeply gratifying and motivating.

In addition to a lifelong interest in public policy and conservation, Mr. Berler is an avid outdoorsman, endurance athlete, art collector and land steward on his ranch in the Mayacama Mountains. He and his wife, Amy, and their four children live in San Francisco.

EXECUTIVE/Operations manager

Ms. Natividad has been with Paskin & Berler Capital Advisors, LLC since its founding in 1999, providing support to the Chief Executive Officer.  She serves as the firm’s Executive & Operations Manager.  Ms. Natividad is a primary client contact and a team resource for all operational and client service matters.  She is responsible for monitoring client transactions and activities, trade execution, and supporting various portfolio management-related activities and projects.  Prior to joining Paskin & Berler, Ms. Natividad worked at Montgomery Asset Management, where she provided administrative support to the Managing Director of the Private Asset Management Division and Corporate Vice President in Institutional Sales.  Prior to Montgomery, she worked at the Asset Management Division of Wells Fargo Bank where she provided support to their business development teams.  She graduated from Assumption College, Philippines with a B.S. in Business Management.  Ms. Natividad holds a Series 6 Securities license.

Ms. Natividad joined Paskin & Berler in December 2018 as Senior Client Service Manager.  She interfaces with our custodians, provides day-to-day client service, and supports all aspects of our clients’ servicing needs.  Ms. Natividad is responsible for maintaining client records, conducting research on client account inquiries and issues, completing and processing account service requests, and gathering and documenting information to ensure compliance requirements are met. Ms. Natividad previously worked at 21st Century Fox for 16 years at various Fox media outlets for sports, entertainment, and business news as a senior financial analyst specializing in yield management.  Prior to that, she worked at Wells Fargo Bank for 12 years as a financial analyst.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines.
